New Term - September 2011

Beavers start back after the September weekend!

Wemyss Bay - 6.15pm on 8th September 2011

Inverkip - 5.45pm on 9th September 2011

Any new Beavers starting should contact Liz or Craig to register.  Look forward to seeing you all again!

June 2011

June was a busy month with the District Parade, Beaver Day, Group Camp and Parade Camp.  Our Beavers were very well represented at the District Parade and looking very smart!  Beaver Day was a fab day once again this year with all sorts of activities on offer giving Beavers the opportunity to try the Zorb Ball, Jacobs Ladder and the Zip Wire amongst other things - we also had the best slippery slide yet!!!!

District Beaver Sleepover - April 2011

Beavers had their first ever outdoor camp this month.  We got up in the morning and hiked up the hill and found treasure left for us by Cyde and continued the day with all the usual fun and games!

Rememberance Day Parade - November 2010

Beavers were on parade on Sunday with the scouts and cubs from our group to take part in the Rememberance Day Parade.  We were really proud as 50 of our Beavers walked from Inverkip church to the cenotaph and back - what a turnout.  A camp will take place in February for those out on parade (see dates tab).

Hallowe'en - October 2010

We were dooking for apples, pinning the spider on the web and judging the best Hallowe'en costume.  We had more super heros than 20th century fox!  Please see pictures in our gallery.

Australian Camp - October 2010

Destination :  Bondi Beach and Beavers were up against it to wrestle the crocs 'Steve Irwin' style and catch the kangaroos, the same cheeky kangaroos that hid all our koalas and crocodiles all over Everton, sorry Bondi Beach, and Beavers had to go and find them all!!  We then set out on a Bush Trail before dinner and ended the night learning more songs round the camp fire.

This was a last beaver camp for those moving up to cubs in the coming months so we hope you enjoyed the creature comforts!

We finished off our camp by wishing Bob, Mia and Islay well, on their way to Australia as they head to pastures new.  All the best from 85th.

Swedish Camp - June 2010

What a blast we had!  Beavers got the full Swedish treatment, playing traditional Swedish Games like Lutefisk and the Dhala Toss, with meatballs the obvious choice for dinner.  We also had another opportunity to work towards the Everton Beaver Challenge with the Slippery Slide and Zip wire on the go.  Traditionally, our evening was rounded off with a sing song round the camp fire and then to bed to recharge our batteries for the following day.  The weather was on our side and allowed us to do everything - we even had our water fight, and what a water fight it was!

It's the Summer Holidays! - June 2010

The last session of the term is week commencing 14th June 2010.  We'll start back again after the September Weekend.

We've got another camp booked for 27th June for Beavers who were out on Parade.  The theme is Sweden as we are sending 4 scouts to the Jamboree in Sweden next year.  We've got loads of swedish games organised and ikea's not in site - although ABBA might be.  Don't forget your water guns!

Beaver & Cub Day - June 2010

Over 450 Beavers and Cubs from our district turned out at Everton to take part in more activities than ever!  From archery to bouncy castles, from the coconut shy to pancake making, from the zip slide to the new Low Rope assault course, we did it all!  We even had the chance to try out the Zorb Ball!  Taking part in all these activities contributes towards achievement of the Everton Beaver Chellenge badge.

District Parade  - June 2010

We had a great turn out at this year's District Parade where we walked from Greenock Academy to the Westburn Church.  All Beavers were very smart and did our section proud!

Group Camp - May 2010

This year's Group Camp was a huge success with Beavers from Inverkip and Wemyss Bay taking part in activities with the Big Boys!  We were zip sliding, crate climbing, slippery sliding, up Jacob's Ladder, trying out the Low Rope and even played human table foosball which was great fun.

The day was rounded off with our traditional camp fire including the essential songs and then to bed with a midnight feast!  A great time was had by all.

Fitness badge

The Beavers have been working on their fitness badge lately. The things that they have done have included skipping, long jump and the vertical jump.

The Beavers have also been filling in a food diary so that they can record what they eat and drink over the course of the week. All of this is to determine whether or not they actually achieve the badge.

Beavers win district Beaver day

Congratulations to our Beavers who have won Greenock & District's Jean King Trophy this year. The Beavers had a great day competing with 300 Beavers from around the District. They tried their hand at climbing on Jacob's ladder, Sumo Wrestling, Skittles, Snakes and Ladders, crate climbing, parachute games, fishing, and lots lots more. They even found time to learn some new songs at a fun campfire. The winning team is pictured showing off their trophy. You can find more photos of the event at the District web site here. Thanks to all parents and Beavers who took part in a great day out.
